Ok, so things are getting there - and we are pleased to say that we are now accepting new registrations to highwoods.co.uk. We now have a new policy to help ensure that registered members live within 5 miles of Colchester. Our rationale is - the internet is so big, we wanted to keep a small space of it just for people who live in the Colchester area.

I have been working on and off on Highwoods.co.uk since 2001 - please feel free to check out the different versions over the years at the wayback machine: highwooods.co.uk since 2001. So I hope you can see that I have had an ambition to create a community site in the Colchester area for a long time now.

Why will it be successful now - well, for two reasons:

1) I am going to invest more of my time into it.
2) It isn't going to be free any more.

I know that there are lots of other business networks - but we are both a "social" and "business" network - and we are also in complete control over our feature list. This means that we can shape and adapt the this website very quickly to meet your needs.

Our primary goal is to make Highwoods.co.uk the best community website in the Colchester area. We are not in competition with anyone else - so we are happy to support and advertise other business networks.

We believe that if we build the best local community network, then people and businesses will join and take advantage of our features.
