Last night I received a leaflet through the front door.  I don't know who it was from, I am assuming it is from one of the residents living in Highwoods.

It starts, "If you care about the amount of traffic outside your house and/or green issues please read and act upon this!  Objections need to be received by 24th March.  Tesco have submitted two planning applications (Application Numbers 09025 and 090266) for a number of 'enhancements to their store including an additional exit via the service road on Eastwood Drive."

...

and in conclusion it ends: "Please object, in writing, on the basis that a traffic impact assessment has not been conducted, to Nick McKeever at nick.mckeever@colchester.gov.uk quoting Application Numbers 090265 and 090266.  The deadline is 24th March."

Basically, it looks like Tesco have put in a planning application to bring traffic out on Eastwood Drive without having done any traffic impact assessments.  So, people living in Highwoods will end up having increased traffic noise and congestion, pollution, litter, etc.

I am interested to find out more about how this will likely change Highwoods if it goes ahead or if you are objecting to it to try and keep Highwoods as it is.

I recently received a copy of this email from Martin Goss.

Dear All,

We received notification yesterday that the Planning Officer at CBC has officially recommended REFUSAL for the Tesco Eastwood Drive application.

This is great news for residents.

Unfortunately this won’t preclude Tesco from making changes and submitting a new application should they see fit.

Please feel free to pass this on and tell your Highwoods friends and neighbours.

Thanks
Anne Turrell and Martin Goss
